Recipe Comix: Tanzania Travelogue
"Draw us a recipe." That's the brief we sent to a slew of our favorite comic artists; each week, we're thrilled to present what they sent back. The resulting works of art are fantastic, beautiful, hilarious, thoughtful, informative, and often all of the above — and they prove that a recipe doesn't just have to be words on paper. This week's installment of Recipe Comix is really more of an episode of Travel Comix, as cartoonist Lucy Knisely (previously in this space extolling the virtues of orange foods) shares part of the story of a recent trip she took through Qatar and Tanzania, where she wore snake-repelling boots and made a point of spending time listening to her "Africa playlist." Artist Lucy Knisely visits Tanzania. Elephants, steak from Serengeti-grazed cattle, and a life-changingly beautiful night sky ensue.
