Editor-in-Chief James Oseland shows us a simple and quick trick for cooking with lemongrass as an aromatic — no chopping or grinding required.

What you'll need:

A knife

A heavy object, like a coffee mug

How it works:

Cut off the bottom inch and very top of the lemongrass stalk.

Peel off the outermost layers.

Smash it gently with a heavy object until it's nice and splayed out.

Tie it into a nice, neat, nifty little knot.

Add your lemongrass knot to a coconut rice and the the flavor will be just fantastic.
