One Good Find: Magritte Plate Set

This is not a plate. In the ultimate pursuit of René Magritte's surrealist tradition of instilling ordinary objects with meaning, the MoMA design store has come up with a real treat: a set of six 8" plates with vibrant reproductions of some of the artist's most famous paintings such as Ceci n'est pas une pipe (This Is Not a Pipe) and Le Sourire du Diable (The Smile of the Devil). Just like Magritte's work, these dishwasher-safe melamine plates are ironic and playful, elevating even the most mundane of foods.
