Terrapin Chocolates

As a young girl growing up in the Midwest, there was nothing I looked forward to more than my family's annual trip to The American Club resort in Kohler, Wisconsin. Every memory of those yearly trips makes me smile, but none so much as those I spent enjoying Buttery Kohler Terrapins, the resort's version of the classic turtle candy. These handmade chocolates were inspired by Herb Kohler, who challenged the chefs at the resort to create the best turtle candy the world had ever seen. After tasting the luscious milk chocolate sandwiching velvety-sweet caramel and salty pecans, I think it's safe to say that Herb did indeed accomplish his goal.
