12 Days of Holiday Sweets: Gingerbread In All Its Glory

Gingerbread's a pretty loose term once you do some research. It can refer to cookies, cakes, houses, molasses, icings, and even a bed and breakfast in New Jersey, dripping with gingerbread trim. We've recently enjoyed gingerbread in two versions, each with their own personality: an English gingerbread cake and gingerbread cookies from Sweden. The gingerbread cake can be soaked in anything from Lyle's Golden Syrup to honey or molasses, and the gingerbread cookies are snappy and spicy. However you choose to enjoy gingerbread this season, try to not limit yourself to just one kind: all the variations on this treat are truly festive. —The Editors
